Underwriting Manager 203K Underwriter manager is responsible for managing the timely and compliant underwriting of loans producing a quality loan that is saleable: • Conforming • Exceptions • Relationship building with Loan Officers and Operations • Respond to day-to-day requests from district and regional managers • Determine which problems need to be elevated for resolution • Crisis management – finding alternative products, solutions so a loan may be underwritten; minimize declines • Work with Investors and Secondary Marketing to find products and solutions • Manage relationships between Loan Officers and Underwriters • Review loans for escalation and second signature • Review bucket reports, OT reports, QC report, Suspend report • Spot audit files for (1) worksheets (2) random audit • Review test cases for new and current underwriters • Update White board on UW Metric Review uninsured reports • Resolve issues for non-saleable loans o Conference calls with Investors o Consult with Underwriters on how a problem occurred Ensuring underwriters follow guidelines to ensure sale ability of loans • Review QC reports and respond and resolve unacceptable loan issues • Analyze need for changes to system applications and impact on overall Loan Operations functions • Participate in project teams to ensure the timely and accurate review and implementation of changes • Participate in system analysis for new Loan Origination System Other duties as assigned • Resolve conflicts and problems with meeting guidelines Research and understand new product offerings as they relate to Underwriting requirements • Work planning, prioritization and assignment; establish and monitor accountability for subordinates’ job responsibilities • Align staff to achieve departmental and company goals and objectives • Training: a. On-going new product offerings, guidelines and matrices b. Mentoring underwriters c. New staff • Team-building; staff development for professional and corporate growth; coaching, mentoring and counseling • Timely performance management (reviewing and approving work; rewards and disciplinary action; conflict resolution) • Interviewing and hiring decisions • Ensure compliance with Company Policies • Demonstrate and encourage integrity and alignment with Company Vision, Mission and Values • Daily file assignments • Review denial with underwriters • Support underwriters, processors, LO’s questions • Monitoring emails from underwriters to Internal staff (approval, suspend, denial) • Award an uActively participate in strategy development for Company • Meet position’s goals and objectives • Track, monitor and prepare report on departmental goals and objectives • Meet with Ops Manager to discuss outstanding issues, training initiatives or areas of improvement. • Discussion with Sales Managers on concerns; service; productivity Responding to all emails daily underwriter for the month II.
